Ashleigh does Brisbane, culinarily.

The culinary diary of a young lady eating her way through Brisbane (and surrounds).

Hidden suburban Italian treasure!

Stella Star Café, Coorparoo.

Often you are one of few diners within this well-established restaurant.
But no matter the number of patrons, owner Louie treats you as though you are the only one in the room, with a true passion for food and service; I continue to come back to Stellar Star Café!
The quality of food is second to none, myself with an Italian heritage I am, generally, neither impressed nor tempted by Italian restaurants, with a fear of paying for something I know will never stack up to Nonna’s cooking!

The heritage of the restaurant allured me, the quality and quantity of food coupled with the homely, welcoming atmosphere has hooked me.
I intend to introduce my entire friend circle to this slice of Mediterranean heaven.
But Louie is humble, he insists he is ‘not in the business to make money, he just loves what he does’, but I am sorry Louie as I insisted to you the secret has to come out, the food is too good for the community not to know that right under our noses tucked away in the suburbs is such a stellar find!

Pack your appetite! The entrées are enough to sustain as a main.
The menu changes every Thursday, you are greeted with flavoursome gourmet dishes you would expect to find in an upmarket 5 star inner city restaurant forking out $50 for an entrée sized main. The reasonable pricing at Stella Star, given the genuine Italian serving sizes will amaze you!

If you are in for lunch, dabble in the Tapas menu! (Served from 12-4pm).

Louie is more than accommodating and willing to adapt the menu and serving sizes to your group, offering to make anything with suggestions from staple ingredients from the group. We were more than satisfied with the likes of Potato and Cheese Croquettes, Tomato
Bruschetta & an array of Cheese centric options.

DO NOT leave without trying the Tiramisu! Whilst in my opinion not a traditional Tiramisu experience, it has a very mild coffee undertone, which can be appreciated, by coffee lovers and haters alike!

Trio of Dips.
Tapas including: Proscuitto wrapped Brie & Fish Cakes.

Monstrous Tapas including: Potato & Cheese Croquettes, Marinated Olives, Tomato Bruschetta, Deep-fried Brie w/ fig conserve & Bocconcini.

Tiramisu!
